Local Amenities
The closest place to eat locally is The Farmhouse Kitchen at The Great Glen Hostel. They serve home-made food and a selection of bottles beers & wines. It comes highly recommended by us and is a 20 minute walk, or a 3 minute drive away. They open seasonally for breakfast, lunch & dinner.
The Eagle Barge Inn is also open seasonally. Located about 35 minutes away along the canal side on foot, it’s a floating pub/restaurant which offers a unique dining experience! They have bar meals available for lunch and dinner, and a pre-bookable a-la-carte menu too, as well as being dog friendly with Wi-Fi!
There are several other hotels, restaurants & cafes offering lunches and evening meals in the surrounding areas which operate with seasonal opening hours. Please ask us for recommendations as there are too many to list!
The village of Invergarry is a 5 minute drive away with a small shop and off-license at the Petrol Station. Fort Augustus is 10-15 minutes away and is a wee town which has an assortment of local shops, pubs and a Londis supermarket.
And finally… some of our favourite places!
These are a few of our personal favourites – Scenery, locations & things to do at Loch Oich, Glengarry & Invergarry, Lochaber and around Scotland.
All places you can visit, and activities you can do whilst basing yourself at True North Lodge. We’d be delighted to help you plan your stay!
